I was tempted to start this post with the typical statement “It’s hard to believe our time here is almost over…”
But let’s be honest: It’s not.
Days, months, years, all that. Change comes. One season following another. (Name that song!) It’s not like we didn’t see it coming… We fly to Canada on June 15th, leaving us with just a month left here before debriefing for two weeks in Abbotsford.
But then what?
This summer I’m excited to be working at a smaller camp about an hour and a half away from my hometown. I’ve always wanted to be volunteer one of my summers here, as it’s somewhat of the “little brother” to the camp I grew up at and my parents worked at for many years. Camp songs here we come!
Even better, I’ll be working with one of my closest friends from childhood, the most wonderful KG! It’s been too long since I’ve spent time with her so I am stoked to join her as she fills the role of photographer, and I do whatever position is needed. I told God to save a spot for me. I guess we’ll see what that is when the time comes!
I am so looking forward to the smell of lifejackets and bug spray, and hear the clamour of kids eating all together. I can’t wait to see grubby kids in bright Tshirts. I’m excited to work with people who are so on fire for sharing love and good news with kids they’re willing to have a face full of whipped cream or eat gummy worms from people’s feet. It’s gunna be great.
