A Poem Composed Whilst Attending to the Dishes

Skeeters in the sink

Skeeters in the sink

Skeeters in the sink aren’t nice I think.

Skeeters in the air

Skeeters in my hair

Skeeters are pretty much everywhere.

Skeeters in the outhouse

Skeeters in the yard

Tryin’ to avoid them is just too hard!

Skeeters up my nose

Causin’ me woes

Skeeters is ev’ry-where I goes.

What’s that smell?

Can’t you tell?

Citronella – skeeter hell!

The buzzing ain’t the floatplane

The droning ain’t the boat

The whining’s them mosqueeters

Comin’ for my throat.

Aiming for my ankles

Chewin’ on my ear

Those lil’ skeeters I don’t hold dear!

Skeeters in the sink

Skeeters in the sink

Driving me crazy, that’s what I think.

  1. Hope you keep those skeeters out of your nose & throat! Shall I send you a skeeter net for your bed? Great poem.

I actually have a net for my bed, it just doesn’t keep the dead floating ones out of my dishwater, ha.

Love the poem! Reminds me that Marie used to call them “spageetoes” Imagine a little Italian mosquitoe with a beret of course, in a speedo eating spaghetti!

    1. Anna says:

Oh goodness! That’s funnny! I might just adopt the term : )

Anna, man I miss you! Your words and your ability to write and express yourself through poetry and reflective thought is inspiring. You have a handle on the English language that blows me away. When you write, you elude freedom of thought. I have a lot of thoughts, they just don’t flow freeing like yours do.

I want you to know that you are not far from my thoughts and prayers. God bless you, my friend. Sherry

FYI, I don’t know why my icon is an angry little monster. Yikes, I hope the computer is trying to say something about me!! I am now off to try to change my little icon. Blessings!
